I posted this post back in April last year. It was the first thing I saw when I logged back in this morning. And I just had to add a post note. The Post Note is at the bottom, but I think it is best dear reader that you read the Breaking Free post first thus maintaining the chronological order of thoughts so to speak.
Have you ever had to break free
Ever had to break free
Not from prison
At least not a physical sort of prison
A psychological one
Or a mental one
But one whose walls might as well be made of stone
Perhaps even of the strongest stone
An invisible sort of stone
Have you ever
Ever had to break free
Free of
And Free from
A prison of thought
Of belief
Of habit
Of routine perhaps
Some sort of prison in any case
And you wonder how you will get out
Where you will start?
What sort of tools you need?
What sort of thoughts?
What sort of beliefs?
What sort of habits?
What sort of routines will free you?
But instead you get caught
Caught in wonder
And disbelief
Of how you ended up in this prison anyway
Did you fall?
Did you trip?
Were you pushed?
Like some sort of Humpty Dumpty
Did you slowly lock yourself in?
Did you lose the key?
Is there even a key?
Are there even walls?
How did it start?
So you peer into the past trying to see past yesterday, past last week, past year, past the last decade
To discern where and how it started
But Alas you cannot
You're in a prison afterall
Post note: 11th January, 2025.
The post above asked a lot of questions. I’ve not looked at it or posted since. In fact, the main reason I logged back in was my subscription just auto renewed in that sneaky manner subscriptions do. You think about cancelling but before you get to it. Boom! Auto Renewed. But I digress!
The answer to the questions in the post. Jeez! Shall we focus? As I reread this post, the answer is “slowly.” You slowly break free, being kind and gentle to yourself along the way because backslide you will straight back into those proverbial chains. But if you persevere and persist, you will see that light at the end of the tunnel slowly slowly get brighter.
