The soundtrack in our minds.

I used to hate meditation. I could never stop my mind wandering. And silly me, I thought I was the only one whose mind wandered this way. Little did I know that this was a universal issue.

Then I discovered Guided Meditations and now I love it, even look forward to it. I use the Daily Calm app but there are literally dozens of apps and videos to choose from.

Anyway, today’s meditation was about paying attention to the recurring thoughts in our minds. How our minds can be like a radio station playing the same 5 or 10 songs over and over again.

The trick for us is not to get caught up in those thoughts, but to notice, even perhaps label them “Ah, there goes that song again” and gently turn the radio station..so to speak..to a different station. Gently turn your mind to something else or to the present.

I decided to try this today. To be honest, I totally forgot all about the meditation..such is the mind. BUT there were a couple times I did remember to just notice my thoughts without getting caught up in them. And that was pretty cool.

Very powerful blog and oh so true!!! There are so many times I swear I’m going to focus on one thing or meditate on a certain phrase or word, and 5 mins later I’ve forgotten all about it😋😊 I find that when I put a meditation or quote right in front of my work space, then I tend to focus on it more! Thanks again for sharing😋
