Hey gals and guys, yours truly here just landed a job with normal working hours after 7 years of shift work!

My new hours will be 9:30am-5:30pm Tuesday-Saturdays! I am thrilled and in total disbelief.

After so many years of being in shift work and/ or part time work, this to me is like a miracle. I say miracle because slogging from day to day, I really didn’t think I would see this side of normal again. And it wasn’t for lack of looking either.

When the job came open, I almost disregarded it. I had heard it would mean a pay cut. But I was desperate. My current shift is 5am-3:30pm Friday-Monday. And they are things I definitely love about my shift (and will miss a lot) like the quiet, the people, the challenge and 3-day weekend. That said, the cons like getting up at 4, the 10 hour days, lack of weekend compensation and fatigue were beginning to outweigh the pros. So I went for it.

And what do you know, not only does the new job have better hours but better pay too! Is that cool or what?
