A blog by any other name..

A year ago I started this blog but then it lay dormant most of the year. When I started, I used the title AuthenticAutumn. I tried to find my notes for how I came up with this name but they remain misplaced for now.

In the last couple of weeks, I’ve been slowly working to revive my blog. Today my assignment through Blogging U was to revisit the site title and come up with a tagline.

I like the title Authentic Autumn. I recall this name having something to do with authenticity in the autumn of my life. I like the sound of it. It spoke to me.

Even today, I found that I was quite reluctant to change it. It was as if while the blog lay dormant, the title had acquired some sentimental value to me. Knowing myself, I know I chose it quite carefully. But I’m not sure that it reveals to the reader what my blog is about. It’s like an antique piece you keep on your mantle that no one but you understands what is or what it means.

So back to the drawing board I went. Writing words and adjectives that described me and what I intended to write and playing around with titles.

  • Authentic
  • Daily two cents
  • 20 open tabs
  • Ordinary
  • Extraordinary
  • Work
  • Life
  • Introvert
  • Authentic fexibility
  • Flexibly authentic
  • Introspective introvert
  • The mystical mundane
  • Ans so on and so forth.

Then I came across this quote by Bill Moyers “Creativity is piercing the mundane to find the marvelous.” And therein, I found my new site title and tag line. Piercing the Mundane: A blog about life, work and the vast in between.

And for now that feels about right.

    Hi Authensible,
I am a blogging coach and I try to help people come up with taglines. I like your camera in your graphic header. I am interested in photography and have blogged about it often.
I help bloggers at my site MostlyBlogging.com. Maybe you can check out my blog if you need any blogging tips. I also host 10 blogging events each month where you could meet new readers. Two of them are blog parties like Jason held where I met you.

Thank you for your reply. I will look forward to your visit to my blog. By the way, I think I forgot to tell you I like your blog name. It sounds like a combination of ostensible and authentic.
